Using Pop Culture to Create Superfans: Brianne Fleming

What do marketing and pop culture have in common? That’s what Brianne Fleming is trying to show the world! Being a fan herself, she realized that boy bands and other artists were able to build a following of superfans who were dedicated to their brand. And that’s when it clicked: marketers should take inspiration from pop culture. Since then, Brianne has been coaching brands to use the power of content to turn ordinary customers into passionate superfans. And in this episode, she tells us how! In this episode of the Social PR Secrets Podcast, host Lisa Buyer had an insightful conversation with Brianne Fleming, marketing consultant, blogger, course creator, and podcast host of Making the Brand where she discusses marketing lessons inspired by pop culture. She is also an instructor of branding and social media at the University of Florida, teaching students how to build strong online communities. Brianne is all about incorporating pop culture into her marketing classes and her social media presence. She even hosts a Twitter chat called PopChat every Friday! Social Media Trends for 2021 When asked what she believed 2021 would bring in terms of social media trends, Brianne immediately answered “nostalgia.” She says a lot of industries, like sports, have very little to promote because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bryan Clayton Groomed Uber of Lawncare with SEO and PR

Starting your own venture can be a scary process. When you have no budget, no connections, no employees, how do you get from an idea to a company that brings in this revenue? And how can PR, SEO, and social media help you along the way?  In this new episode of the Social PR Secrets Podcast, host Lisa Buyer sits down with Bryan Clayton, co-founder, and CEO of GreenPal, an online marketplace that connects homeowners with local lawn care professionals. Also called the “Uber of lawn care,” Greenpal was started from nothing over eight years ago. Today, Bryan and his associate grew it to over 200,000 active users completing thousands of transactions a day.  From idea to revenue Bryan and his co-founders had a simple but genius idea: allowing homeowners to find a lawn care professional, hiring them, approving their work, and potentially hiring them for the whole system. Like Uber, it made a service easily available. But unlike Uber, the model allows all actors to win from it. Not only are customers satisfied. But the app also allows small companies with no marketing to find customers effectively. Once the idea was there and the first app prototype was built, all that was needed were customers. So Bryan went old school and went door to door to hand out flyers and get his first users for feedback.  Grow your business with SEO Of course, in the digital age, flyers weren’t going to be the long-term solution. So Bryan focused all his marketing efforts on organic search. By optimizing SEO, he was able to slowly build ...
